Q & A

Is it ok to use older Golf clubs?

Hi all,

I was wondering if it's a good idea or ok to use older Golf clubs. I'm just stating out and older Golf clubs from the 1990s or 2000s or even 2010s seems to be much cheaper than new golf clubs. I'm talking about costing 90% less! My friend say it could ruin your swing but I don't know. It seems like they look the same. Feels almost the same. Any opinion would help a lot.

It really is ok to use an older set of golf clubs as long as they're not too old. Something in the 2010s would be a good bet. If it's really really old (like 1980's or below) then the technological difference will be too significant. It is generally accepted that the clubs gain an average of 2 yards per year a club within the last 5 or 6 years will be your best bet. The techongy on those clubs will still make it easy to hit and thus should be ok for beginners too.
